WILLARD – Ashland has consistently been the top basketball program in the area all season and coaches recognized it at the District 6 meeting over the weekend.
The Arrows boast the most prolific scorer in senior Paxon Ediger, and he was named player of the year in Division II/Division III. Through 21 games played, he is averaging 23.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.6 steals.
Senior Gabe Baith (15.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.6 steals) joined Ediger on the first team while classmate Reed Emmons (11.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 59 made 3-pointers) was on the second team. And Jason Hess was named coach of the year after the Arrows split the league title four ways with Dover, New Philly, and Mansfield Senior for the program’s first OCC championship since ’21-’22.
In Division VI, senior Karter Goon earned first team honors averaging 17 points per game entering the final week of the regular season. New London freshman Henry Thomas (15 points) landed on the second team; senior teammate Jaxson Schaffer (12 points) was a honorable mention alongside Crestview seniors Daniel Wells (13 points) and Drew Spoerr (11 points).
In Division VII, South Central senior Bryan Chaffee (17 points per game) earned first team honors with classmate Weston June (16 ppg) on the second team.
