Woman, 71, stabbed and killed early Monday morning in Stockton

A 71-year-old woman who was stabbed early Monday morning in Stockton died, marking the second homicide reported in the city this year, police said. 

Officers responded at about 4 a.m. Monday to the 2500 block of East Anita Street on a report of a stabbing. Police said the woman was stabcbed by someone she knew.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.

The suspect was taken into custody, police said. 

Detectives responded and assumed the homicide investigation.
