New Florida A&M head football coach Quinn Fordham Gray Sr. has made another addition to his inaugural coaching staff.
FAMU is bringing Toriano Morgan to be the Rattlers’ assistant head coach, running backs coach, and high school recruiting coordinator.
He comes from his alma mater, Tennessee State, where he was the co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach.
Interestingly, the Rattlers will host the Tennessee State Tigers on Sept. 19 at Ken Riley Field at Bragg Memorial Stadium. It’ll be the Historically Black Colleges and Universities’ first time meeting since 2017, when Tennessee State defeated FAMU 24-13 in the Tampa Classic at Raymond James Stadium.
Morgan’s coaching stops include serving as the head football coach for the Edward Waters Tigers from 2021 to 2024. He had an 18-24 record and went 12-11 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games at the private HBCU.
Like Gray, Morgan is from Fort Lauderdale.
Furthermore, Morgan served as the head coach of Gray’s alma mater, Dillard High School, during the 2018 season, going 8-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
With 25 years of coaching experience, Morgan has also held assistant coaching positions at Boyd H. Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, McArthur High School in Hollywood, Virginia Union, and Virginia State.
As a player, Morgan was a wide receiver for the Tennessee State Tigers from 1997 to 2000. He and Gray often faced each other in the Atlanta Football Classic, while Gray quarterbacked the Rattlers during the same period of time.
