Bears promote Press Taylor to offensive coordinator

The Chicago Bears have found their new offensive coordinator. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bears are promoting pass game coordinator Press Taylor to offensive coordinator.

Taylor replaces the departed Declan Doyle, who joined the Baltimore Ravens as their offensive coordinator (with play-calling duties). The in-house promotion provides some stability for quarterback Caleb Williams and the offense after Taylor’s role as pass game coordinator last season.

Before joining Johnson’s staff, Taylor served as the offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars (2022-24), where he worked with quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Taylor also worked his way up the ladder with the Philadelphia Eagles getting his start as an offensive quality control coach (2013-15) and receiving promotions to assistant quarterbacks coach (2016-17) to quarterbacks coach (2018-20) and passing game coordinator (2020). Taylor also served as a senior offensive assistant with the Indianapolis Colts for a season (2021).

The Bears had requested interviews with Arizona Cardinals passing game coordinator Connor Senger and Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers coach Troy Walters (who declined the request) for their offensive coordinator vacancy before ultimately promoting from within with Taylor.
