Five departments called to Pleasant Township fire; home destroyed

ZANESVILLE – No injuries were reported after a fully involved fire in southern Perry County, near the Pleasant and Bearfield township line, on Feb. 1. The structure, however, a home in the 3600 block of Tatmans Road, became a total loss, according to the Roseville Fire Department.

Roseville, just one of five responding departments, provided mutual aid with one truck and five firefighters at around 5:18 a.m., said one of Roseville’s assistant fire chiefs, Derrick Keylor.

It took around two hours to extinguish the fire, Keylor added, and Roseville left the scene between 7 and 8 a.m.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The Crooksville, Corning, New Lexington, and Shawnee fire departments also assisted at the scene, as well, and in subzero temperatures, noted a corresponding social media announcement from the Roseville fire department Feb. 1.

The Corning fire department could not be immediately reached with follow-ups.
