For the first time in its history, DeCicco & Sons will have a new name for its grocery store.
The company’s Scarsdale location, at 58 East Parkway, will be called Piccolino. The reason? It’s Italian for little one and refers to the store’s smaller footprint.

The “concept store” as the family referred to it an Instagram post Jan. 30, will open sometime this summer.
The store, which for 31 years operated under the DeCicco Family Markets umbrella (a different branch of the same family) closed in November 2024. That branch of DeCicco’s owns locations in New City, Katonah and Jefferson Valley.
DeCicco’s planning Connecticut location
In another first, brothers John and Joe DeCicco Sr. and their sons Chris, Joe Jr. and John Jr., the men behind DeCicco & Sons’ many Westchester locations (Ardsley, Armonk, Bedford, Brewster, Eastchester, Harrison, Larchmont, Millwood, Pelham, Sleepy Hollow and Somers), are also busy planning their first Fairfield County, Connecticut store, which should open this spring in Greenwich.
Set to occupy a 20,000-square-foot space at 11 Glen Ridge Road, this new spot will be the family’s 12th. (Their Sleepy Hollow spot at Edge-on-Hudson, which opened this past March, was their 11th.)
As with its other locations, the store will feature gourmet groceries in addition to a wide beer selection, Italian baked goods, fresh produce, and prepared foods. They’ll also offer meats from partner farms that align with the company’s core values of humanely raised animals without using antibiotics or added hormones.
And, it will be constructed with eco-friendly practices in mind, using Pozzotive, a building material incorporating recycled glass into concrete and reclaimed brick and wood to minimize the store’s carbon footprint. The commitment to sustainability extends to the store’s operations, utilizing energy-efficient systems and recycling heat generated by refrigeration equipment to power hot water and in-store heating. Additionally, the store will employ non-ozone-depleting refrigerant and high-efficiency equipment.
