Live from New York, it’s the 1,000th episode of “Saturday Night Live!”
Emmy Award-winning actor Alexander Skarsgård is slated to emcee the last show of January. The “True Blood” star and oldest son of famed actor Stellan Skarsgård joins the likes of Glen Powell, Melissa McCarthy, Josh O’Connor, Ariana Grande, Finn Wolfhard and Teyana Taylor in hosting “SNL” during season 51.
Here’s what to know about the Saturday, Jan. 31, show, including how to watch and who the musical guest is this weekend.
Who’s hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’ on Jan. 31?
Alexander Skarsgård, who stars in the upcoming film “Pillion,” makes his “SNL” hosting debut during the show’s 1,000th episode Jan. 31.
Who is Alexander Skarsgård?
The Sweden-born actor landed his first U.S. role in the 2001 comedy “Zoolander.” However, he became a well-known name thanks to his part in “True Blood” from 2008 to 2014. He also played Nicole Kidman’s TV husband on “Big Little Lies.”
Skarsgård, who is 6-foot-4, launched his “SNL” week with a promo that plays on the actor’s tall stature. As the 49-year-old towers over cast members Veronika Slowikowska, Jeremy Culhane and Kam Patterson, his height comes in handy, helping them reach items from precarious places in Studio 8H.
“Alexander Skarsgård has only been here a few days, but he’s already fitting right in,” Slowikowska says in the promo.
Culhane adds, “Alexander brings so much to the table. Like he can do things no one here can do.” And why is that? “He tall,” Patterson said.
Who is the musical guest for ‘Saturday Night Live’ on Jan. 31?
Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B is making her grand return to “SNL” as the show’s musical guest nearly eight years after her first time performing at Studio 8H. The “Be Careful” singer made her debut April 7, 2018, following the release of her first album, “Invasion of Privacy.” She also revealed her pregnancy with her first child, Kulture, on the show.
The 33-year-old mother of four returns to the late-night comedy show on the heels of her second album, “Am I the Drama?”
