Palm Bay police are investigating a late-night shooting at Castaways Point Park which left three people with non-life-threatening injuries on Friday, Jan. 23.
At approximately 11:58 p.m., Palm Bay officers responded to the area of Palm Bay Road and Main Street after receiving a report of gunshots, said Sgt. Vincent Galioto, public information officer, in a press release.
Officers did not immediately discover signs of a shooting, but “while still searching the area, and at approximately 12:12 a.m. on January 24, we received a call from Palm Bay Community Hospital advising that three victims with injuries arrived at their facility,” Galioto said.
Investigators said the incident at the park, at 2990 Bay Blvd., occurred during a gathering, Galioto said.
Injured were a a 21-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds; an 18-year-old man grazed by a gunshot; and a 16-year-old girl who sustained a graze wound and additional injuries caused by broken glass, police reported.
“The victims were believed to be seated together inside a vehicle when they were approached by individuals wearing ski masks. Those individuals fired into the vehicle,” Galioto said.
Police are investigating reports of a black Mercedes sedan and/or black Mercedes SUV at the scene, but detectives “have not determined whether that information is factual,” he said.
No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Palm Bay Police Department or CrimeLine.
