Westtown man killed in crash between Jeep and dump truck in Minisink

MINISINK – A man from the hamlet of Westtown in Orange County was killed in a crash between a Jeep and a dump truck on Jan. 23 at the intersection of Route 284 and County Road 22 in the Town of Minisink.

State police said the collision happened at 2:55 p.m..

According to state police, a preliminary investigation determined that a 2014 Jeep was northbound on Route 284 when it crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 2018 Western Star tri-axle dump truck head-on.

The Jeep was operated by Joshua R. Stevens, 25, of Westtown, a hamlet in the Town of Minisink. Stevens, who was the sole occupant of the Jeep, died from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the dump truck, Michael Fasce, 38, of Wurtsboro, was not injured.

State police said their investigation is continuing. Anyone who might have witnessed the collision is asked to call the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at the Greenville barracks at 845-344-5300.
