Winner announced in the TCPalm Teacher of the Week poll (Jan. 18-23)

The votes are in! TCPalm’s Teacher of the Week for Jan. 18-23 is Ed Marchant, a teacher at Clark Advanced Learning Center in Martin County.

TCPalm wants to recognize Treasure Coast teachers making a difference for their students and schools. Readers — parents, administrators, students, community members and other teachers ― nominate their favorite teachers each week. TCPalm lists four nominated teachers, and asks readers to vote for their favorite to be named Teacher of the Week.

TCPalm invites you to support your favorite teacher by voting in this poll. And then revisit it to learn about the amazing teachers on the Treasure Coast.

Voting began at 5 a.m. Sunday and ended at noon Friday.

Kelsey Guard, Samuel S. Gaines Academy of Emerging Technology, St. Lucie County

What the nominator said: “Kelsey is a passionate kindergarten teacher who makes learning an adventure! Her energy and creativity turn every day into a joyful journey of discovery, where little learners feel loved, inspired, and ready to shine.”

Ed Marchant, Clark Advanced Learning Center, Martin County

What the nominator said: “Ed is an exceptional teacher and should be recognized as an outstanding educator at Clark and previously at Stuart Middle School. Ed Marchant brings passion, dedication, and inspiration into the classroom every single day, making a great impact on students’ academic and personal growth.”

Angela Rosales, Rosewood Magnet, Indian River County

What the nominator said: “Mrs. Rosales will be a teacher in this district for nine years. She is so loving and kind to all of her students. Our family had the pleasure of having both our little girls in her kindergarten classroom. Even though she is not their teacher anymore, we still hear wonderful things about how they see Mrs. Rosales in the hallway, she still gives our girls birthday cards each year, and she is the most dedicated teacher we know.”

Lindsay Whitaker, Fairlawn Elementary, St. Lucie County

What the nominator said: “She knows how to clearly communicate with parents and children. Mrs. Whitaker expresses complex ideas simply and effectively. She engages with her students by using creative lessons, humor, and real-world examples to keep students interested. She’s always setting high expectations by believing in students’ potential and challenges. She always remains professional and shows all her students love.”
