FSU announces hiring of special teams coordinator Adam Scheier

Last Friday, it was reported that the Florida State Seminoles were expected hire Adam Scheier as its new special teams coordinator. Monday morning, it was made official by FSU head coach Mike Norvell.

Scheier has a ton of experience as a special teams coordinator. He began that role at Princeton in 2000. After two years there, Scheier spent seven years on the staff at Lehigh. Scheier has since been in a special teams coaching role at Bowling Green, Wake Forest, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Rutgers, Temple, and UNLV.

“I am excited for this opportunity to join such a prestigious program,” Scheier said. “Coach Norvell places a tremendous emphasis on special teams, and we share an aggressive approach and philosophy for each unit. Florida State has a long history of providing playmakers an opportunity to shine on special teams. I can’t wait to get to work and continue that legacy with the Seminoles.”

Scheier is the latest in several coaching hires and promotions for FSU since their 2025 season ended . They’re also expected to bring in Jake Rothschiller as their assistant linebackers coach.
