Police have identified a 19-year-old woman who died after what was apparently an unintentional shooting Friday night at a west Lubbock house.
The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is investigating the shooting that was reported about 10:40 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, in the 7000 block of 21st Street, according to a statement from Lubbock police.
Upon arrival, officers located Taylor Wilson, 19, with a gunshot wound.
She was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
“Through the initial course of the investigation, it appears, an individual Wilson was with was attempting to disassemble a gun when Wilson was shot,” the statement reads.
Other information about the circumstances of the shooting, including about the person who was handling the gun, were not immediately available as the investigation is ongoing.
