The Detroit Lions missed the playoffs for the first time in three years, but two of their players were named first-team All-Pro by the Associated Press on Saturday, Jan. 10.
Linebacker Jack Campbell earned his first All-Pro nod after finishing second in the NFL with 176 tackles.
Campbell, 25, had a career-high five sacks and three forced fumbles in his third NFL season.
He is eligible for a contract extension this offseason for the first time, though he said late in the year he plans to “leave that up to everyone else.”
“I feel like the Lord‘s got a plan for me,” Campbell said. “I love it here. I absolutely love it here, but I mean, I haven’t really thought about it and I really don’t know what’s going to happen, so we’ll see.”
Campbell got 25 of a possible 50 first-team votes and 89 total points. Jordyn Brooks of the Miami Dolphins, who had 183 tackles, was the other linebacker in the first team (78 points, 21 first-team votes).
Right tackle Penei Sewell earned his third straight first-team All-Pro selection for the Lions. Sewell got 45 first-place votes and had 137 points.
Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and defensive end Aidan Hutchinson were second-team All-Pro selections. St. Brown, a first-team All-Pro in 2023-24, led the Lions with 117 catches, 1,401 yards and 11 receiving touchdowns. Hutchinson had a team-high 14½ sacks in his return from a broken leg.
Jahmyr Gibbs was left off both teams. He finished sixth in running back voting, behind Bijan Robinson, Atlanta, 75 points (23 first-team votes); James Cook, Buffalo, 54 (10); Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis, 33 (6); Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco, 24 (7) and Derrick Henry, Baltimore, 10 (3). Gibbs earned just four points and had one first-place vote. McCaffrey was named first-team All Purpose, Robinson was season-team All Purpose, with Gibbs a distant third without a first-team vote.
Gibbs finished fifth in yards from scrimmage with 1,839 and second in total touchdowns with 18. McCaffrey was second, behind Robinson, with 2,126 yards from scrimmage on an NFL-leading 413 touches and 11 touchdowns for the 12-5 49ers.
Puka Nacua, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Ja’Marr Chase were the first-team receivers, and Myles Garrett, Will Anderson and Micah Parsons were first-team defensive ends.
Nacua, Smith-Njigba and Garrett were unanimous first-team picks, and quarterback Matthew Stafford became the second player ever to be named first-team All-Pro in his 17th season or later, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, joining kicker Gary Anderson in 1998. Stafford received 31 first-place votes to Drake Maye’s 18.
Stafford, 37, was first in the NFL with 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdowns to eight interceptions, and was second to Maye with a 109.2 quarterback rating.
Stafford and the 5-seed Los Angeles Rams (12-5) open the NFL playoffs Saturday as 10-point favorites at the 8-9 Carolina Panthers (4:30 p.m., Fox).
