Projecting Texas A&M's offensive line depth chart in 2026

Texas A&M’s offensive line is undergoing a significant change this offseason, which was expected given the number of veteran starters, four of whom have declared for the 2026 NFL Draft. Now including junior left guard Chase Bisontis, who was expected to return for a final season, head coach Mike Elko and O-line coach Adam Cushing were more than prepared for each departure once the transfer portal opened last Friday.

First, the Aggies landed former Texas A&M commit and LSU sophomore guard Coen Echols, followed by South Carolina guard Trovon Baugh on Monday night, representing the potential starting guard rotation heading into the spring season.

However, replacing star left tackle Trey Zuhn was the toughest assignment, needing an experienced and similarly veteran to slide into the role, leading to Echols’ 2025 teammate, LSU starting left tackle Tyree Adams, announcing his commitment to the Aggies on Wednesday morning.

Just hours later, Alabama guard/tackle Wilkin Formby, who, despite recent struggles, is still considered an elite run blocker, represents what could be the final offensive line addition from the portal. Knowing that Formby could easily play right tackle if needed, it’s noteworthy that the Aggies are still set to host Tennessee transfer OL Lance Heard this weekend, who is strictly a right tackle.

Looking ahead, ignoring Heard’s eventual announcement for now, here is what the Texas A&M 2026 offensive line could look like heading into next season.

Left tackle

Texas A&M’s tackle depth was always an issue going into the offseason, knowing that Trey Zuhn would be departing due to expired eligibility, and that Dametreous Crownover and Reuben Fatherree would also be leaving for the 2026 NFL Draft.

While former five-star prospect Lamont Rogers is certainly talented enough to contend for the starting left tackle job, adding Tyree Adams, paired with incoming sophomore Robert Bourdon, looks like the plan for now. However, Alabama transfer Wilkin Formby could also be in the mix, given his experience at both tackle spots

Starter: Tyree Adams OR Wilkin Formby

Backups: Robert Bourdon, Lamont Rogers

Left guard

Chase Bisontis’s decision to leave for the NFL was always a hotly debated question, but given his high draft grade, it’s very understandable. The first name that jumps out as his potential replacement is Coen Echols, who locked 637 snaps at left guard with LSU last season, and possesses the size and pass blocking prowess to make a seamless transition. However, incoming redshirt sophomore guard Ashton Funk is another name to watch.

Starter: Coen Echols

Backups: Ashton Funk, Tyler Thomas

Center

Incoming senior Mark Nabou is expected to re-sign with the Aggies and return for a final season in College Station, and whenever that impending news is announced, I don’t see much, if any, competition at the starting center spot. However, his primary backup is still a major question, and could come down to Ashton Funk or Robert Bourdon.

Starter: Mark Nabou Jr.

Backups: Ashton Funk, Robert Bourdon

Right guard

With Ar’maj Reed-Adams declaring for the draft, this will be a heated competition between transfer addition Jovon Baugh and incoming Blake Ivy, who the coaching staff is high on, and has already appeared in a handful of games. Alabama transfer Wilkin Formby, who has experience at guard and tackle, is also a name to watch as a potential starter.

Like Ashton Funk, Ivy is a versatile guard with the size to match at 336 pounds, and could be a force in the run game. Still, Baugh is much more experienced with 1,334 snaps, including 11 starts during his final season at South Carolina.

Starter: Blake Ivy OR Wilkin Formby

Backups: Trovon Baugh, Isendre Ahfua

Right tackle:

This one is tricky. With veteran tackles Dametreous Crownover and Reuben Fatheree also leaving for the NFL, the starting right tackle job is wide open, and despite adding Wilkin Formby, he might be a better fit at guard, especially if the Aggies add Tennessee transfer tackle Lance Heard to the roster after his visit.

If Heard is added, I fully expect him to start at right tackle, but if not, this will likely come down to a two or three-horse race. As I stated above, discussing left tackle, Tyree Adams could also be a name to watch, as Adam Cushing will likely work him and Formby out as both tackle spots before making a decision.

Starter: Wilkin Formby OR Tyree Adams

Backup: Robert Bourdon
