Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh sounds off on brother John's firing

During his Wednesday press conference, head coach Jim Harbaugh addressed the firing of his older brother, John Harbaugh, after his 18-year tenure with the Ravens.

“John Harbaugh’s the best coach I know, the best coach I’ve ever seen,” Jim said. “I’m his brother, so I might be biased.”

The firing came after an 8-9 season in 2025, in which Baltimore missed the playoffs, marking one of only three losing seasons under John’s leadership.

Jim was surprised by the move, noting that it caught many in the league off guard, but he predicts a quick return for his brother.

“He’ll be a head coach next year,” Jim said. “We’ll be playing against him in some form or fashion.”

Jim added, “As I told him, whatever team he goes to is going to be formidable, and I just hope it’s in the NFC.”

John currently holds a 3-0 record against Jim in matchups, including their “Harbowl” Super Bowl meeting when Jim was the coach of the 49ers.

John has already received interest from multiple teams with head coaching vacancies, including NFC teams like the Falcons, Giants and Cardinals.
