Bengals have a sleeper draft pick hit on their hands

It’s hard to imagine one could overlook a 6’7”, 340-pound offensive lineman, yet here come the Cincinnati Bengals somehow making that happen.

It’s just hard to notice how steady Mims has been on the right side of the offensive line because of a Joe Burrow injury, Burrow’s comments, the questions around Zac Taylor’s future, how the organization will respond, the…

…onlookers get the idea. This could take all day.

Mims? He’s putting together an elite end-of-season stretch by at least one metric:

Beyond advanced grading metrics, Mims just passes the eye test. He looks exactly like what the Bengals had hoped when they rolled the dice on him at No. 18 in 2024.

Attendance issues were a concern for Mims in the draft, then he went on to appear in 15 games, starting 13, as a rookie last year.

Mims hasn’t missed a game yet as a sophomore and looks incredibly comfortable. He’s a big part of the reason the Bengals very quietly have the best offensive line of the Burrow era to date.

All other conversations about Duke Tobin’s performance aside, Mims is a draft pick hit for the club, if not so much more, should he stay on the field and keep ascending.
