Iconic showman Barry Manilow has revealed that a persistent bout of bronchitis led to a fortunate, life-saving discovery: a cancerous spot on his left lung.
For South Florida fans, that means a change of plans in his concert schedule, including the show in Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise. That concert is now scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026.
The 82-year-old singer shared the news via Instagram, noting that while the diagnosis is serious, catching it early was a stroke of “pure luck” and the result of a proactive medical team.
“As many of you know I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks,” Manilow wrote. “Even though I was over the bronchitis … my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK. The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed.”
Doctors believe the cancer has not spread. Manilow confirmed he will not require chemotherapy or radiation, joking that his recovery plan would consist of “chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”
A shift in timing for the ‘Copacabana’ legend
While Manilow is a fixture of the Las Vegas strip, his recovery will directly affect South Florida’s 2026 concert calendar.
For fans in Palm Beach County, the news comes with a schedule shift. While no dates were originally set for West Palm Beach’s iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre or the Kravis Center, many local residents frequently travel south to Sunrise or north to Orlando to see the “Copacabana” star.
The Amerant Bank Arena show in Sunrise remains the closest stop for Palm Beach County residents, located just a short drive down the Florida Turnpike or Interstate 95.
Rescheduled Florida Barry Manilow performance dates
Manilow expects to spend the month of January recovering, with plans to return to the stage by Valentine’s Day. If you were planning a road trip to see “The Last Concerts” this winter, take note of these updated Florida dates. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates.
Barry Manilow: A history of resilience
This isn’t the first time the multi-platinum performer has faced health hurdles. Manilow has been open about his journey with Atrial Fibrillation (Afib), a heart rhythm disorder he has managed since the late 1990s. He also navigated a similar struggle with bronchitis back in 2013 during a high-profile Broadway comeback.
With surgery planned for this winter, Manilow said he was “counting the days” until he could return to his residency at the Westgate Las Vegas in February before heading back to Florida.
