Hackers left her with no means to buy food for her four grandchildren

Throughout the holiday season, Times Record News will be sharing stories of how Times Charities has aided our partner nonprofit organizations recently in helping struggling individuals.

A woman came into the Salvation Army of Wichita Falls Office office to seek assistance, saying she is the primary caregiver for her four grandchildren.

She said providing for them has been especially difficult because her food stamp benefits have been hacked twice, leaving her without the support she needs to buy groceries.

So she has struggled to stretch her limited income to cover food and other household expenses. Despite her best efforts, the burden of raising her grandchildren alone has left her in a very difficult financial situation.

With assistance from Times Charities donations, the Salvation Army provided assistance to help keep her family stable.

Times Charities, a nonprofit created by the Times Record News over 20 years ago, raises money during the holiday season to address financial woes throughout the calendar year. Times Charities also helps area veterans get back on their feet.

Donations to Times Charities go to the four partners: Wichita Falls Faith Mission, Interfaith Outreach Services, The Salvation Army and Grace Ministries in Burkburnett.

Overhead expenses are not paid from donations.

No money is spent from the Times Charities account until the situations of those seeking help are verified by our partners.

Donations can be made in the form of cash, checks and debit or credit cards. Online donations are also welcome through wichitacf.fcsuite.com/erp/donate.

Make checks payable to Times Charities/WFACF, and mail them to 2633 Plaza Parkway, Wichita Falls, TX 76308.
