The redistricting effort has been championed by President Donald Trump, who’s encouraged Republicans across the country to redraw more favorable districts for red-leaning states. The redistricting passed largely along party lines, with 12 Republicans joining with Democrats in voting against the measure.

Here’s how representatives in the Bloomington and south central Indiana region voted.

Bloomington (District 61) Representative Matt Pierce: Nay

Assistant Democratic Floor Leader Matt Pierce, whose district covers most of Bloomington, was among the most outspoken critics of the redistricting. In August, he called the effort a “desperate” measure by Trump to scrape for “every seat they can get through gerrymandering.”

Ellettsville (District 46) Representative Bob Heaton: Yea

Republican Majority Whip Bob Heaton, whose district includes Ellettsville, Spencer and parts of Terre Haute, voted in favor of the redistricting.

Nashville, Clear Creek (District 62) Representative Dave Hall: Nay

Republican Assistant Majority Whip Dave Hall, whose district includes Nashville, Clear Creek and Smithville, was one of a dozen Republicans who voted against the redistricting effort.

Martinsville (District 60) Representative Peggy Mayfield: Nay

Republican Peggy Mayfield, whose district is north of Bloomington and includes Martinsville, joined Hall and 11 other Republicans in voting against the redistricting effort.

Columbus (District 59) Representative Ryan Lauer: Yea

Republican Ryan Lauer, whose district includes Columbus and Taylorsville, voted in favor of the redistricting.
