Packers will face injury-ravaged Giants team on Sunday

The New York Giants are 2-8, losers of four straight games, moving forward with an interim coach and entering a game against the visiting Green Bay Packers with an injury-ravaged roster.

It’s difficult to imagine any team, much less a two-win team, overcoming the overwhelming number of important and significant injuries facing the Giants before Sunday’s showdown. But backups get paid too, and it’s possible new players will help interim coach Mike Kafka with the element of surprise against the Packers, who have lost back-to-back games, on Sunday.

The injury situation will still play a huge factor in the outcome.

The Giants might be without…

The Giants are healthy, for the most part, along the offensive line, and first-round picks Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence and Abdul Carter give the Giants plenty of talent up front on defense. The cupboard isn’t empty, but the Giants have their work cut out for them in terms of a “next man up” philosophy.

Can Kafka muster enough points with so many pieces missing on offense? And can the Packers rebound in the scoring department against a defense struggling so badly against the run and hurting on every level?

The Packers, meanwhile, will be without receiver Jayden Reed (IR), tight end Tucker Kraft (IR), center Elgton Jenkins (IR) and cornerback Nate Hobbs (ruled out).
