Barstow police are inviting the community to show its holiday spirit in style as they launch the sale of apparel to support the the 30th annual “Christmas Cops & Kids” event.
Commemorative T-shirts, hoodies and baseball caps are being offered for sale as a fundraiser to support the event, in which Barstow Police Activities League members, police officers and volunteers hit the streets each Christmas Eve “to deliver toys, laughter, and holiday cheer directly to neighborhood doorsteps,” the organization said in a written statement.
“It’s a cherished hometown tradition that brings smiles to hundreds of children and families, reminding everyone that the true spirit of Christmas is found in giving right here at home,” the statement said. “For 30 wonderful years, Barstow PAL’s Christmas Cops & Kids has helped local officers bring the magic of the holidays to children and families across our community — a tradition founded in 1995 by Tim Heiden and carried on by countless caring volunteers.”
Heiden, also known as “Mr. Barstow,” also founded the Barstow PAL. He died in 2021 at age 61.
