The tragic death of Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland hit the team and those who knew him hard. The NFL had a moment of silence for Kneeland before every game in Week 10, along with a message about suicide prevention. It began on Thursday Night Football, and continued into the final contest of the week, the Monday night matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers.
Kneeland’s death was more personal for former Cowboy and current Packers pass rusher Micah Parsons. The two were teammates for one season in 2024, when Kneeland was a rookie learning behind Parsons. During the tribute to Kneeland on Monday Night Football, Parsons took a moment to honor his former teammate.
Parsons was emotional during the moment of silence and while the message was being played. This came after Parsons spoke about being “shocked” and hoping that Kneeland found peace after the tragic news broke last week.
The veteran All-Pro joined former teammate and fellow defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence in remembering Kneeland fondly after his shocking death.
They weren’t teammates for long, but Kneeland left an impression on Parsons, who took some extra time to recognize his fallen colleague. Parsons has been talked about by the Cowboys and their fans for all the wrong reasons for the past few months, but this was a classy gesture and the right way to bring up Parsons and his former team.
