Police arrested four Nevada residents over the weekend in connection with the theft of more than $4,000 worth of merchandise from a shopping mall in Barstow, authorities said.
The theft took place shortly before noon on Friday, Nov. 7, at a business at the Outlets at Barstow, in the 2700 block of Tanger Way, Barstow Police Department officials said.
“Officers responded and spoke to the store manager, who reported that several subjects entered the business, stole over $ 4,000 worth of merchandise, and fled the area,” according to a police statement.
During the investigation that followed, officers were able to obtain a description of the car used in the crime, including a license plate number, officials said. The information was entered into a law enforcement database.
Police in Culver City spotted the vehicle and pulled it over in their city about 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, Barstow police officials said. Four people inside the car were linked to Friday’s theft in Barstow.
Jared Warrent, 36; Lacy Purdy, 52; Stephanie Sipple, 36; and Jonathan Brannon, 45; all of Nevada, were arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary and criminal conspiracy, according to police and San Bernardino County booking records.
Bail for Purdy, Sipple and Brannon was set at $30,000 pending initial court appearances.
Warren, who had an existing commercial burglary warrant out of Las Vegas, was being held without bail, officials said.
“The stolen property was collected and returned to the business,” the police statement added.
