Bronson (8-2) at Hanover-Horton (8-2), 7 p.m. Friday

Scouting Report: Bronson is in the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2009. The Vikings advanced with an impressive 52-12 win over Jonesville in a first-round Division 7 game last week. The eight wins in a season are the most since that 2009 year when the Vikings went 9-3. It is only the second winning season for Bronson since going 5-4 in back-to-back years in 2011-12. Bronson is led by senior quarterback Spencer Losinski, who had 1,314 yards passing this year with 16 touchdowns through the air and three rushing scores. The Vikings also feature all-purpose receiver/running back Ben Stevens, who has 19 catches for 245 yards and 276 yards rushing and six touchdowns. He also has four touchdown passes. Senior captain Sam Tappenden is a force on the offensive and defensive line as a four-year starter.

Hanover Horton, ranked No. 9 in the final high school poll, advanced with a 44-6 win over Union City and is in the second round of the playoffs for the first time in school history. The Comets now have back-to-back eight-win seasons, but prior to that Hanover-Horton didn’t have a winning record since 2014. Hanover-Horton finished as champs of the Cascades West, for the second straight year, going undefeated in division play. Hanover-Horton is averaging 34.8 points per game and giving up 16.4.

If Bronson Wins: In the other half of the region, Lawton (8-2) will be at Schoolcraft (8-2). Neither team is ranked. Lawton advanced with a 49-28 win over Constantine. Schoolcraft defeated Galesburg-Augusta, 42-21.

Climax-Scotts (7-2) at Martin (10-0), 7 p.m. Friday

Scouting Report: Playing in Division 1 of 8-player football, No. 10 Climax-Scotts has been in the postseason every year since 2003. Climax-Scotts advanced with a 72-62 win over No. 9-ranked Gobles. The high-scoring Panthers have scored more than 50 points in six games, including six of the last seven outings. C-S scored more than 70 points in a game three times, including the last two weeks. The Panthers were led by senior Liam LaSala last week, as he scored 30 total points in the playoff game, with four touchdowns, two 2-point conversion runs and two point-after-touchdown kicks.

No. 3 Martin has been in the playoffs ever season since going to 8-player division football in 2019. Martin has had double-digit win totals in five of the last seven seasons. Martin was state champ in 2023, but was knocked out in the second round by Mendon last year. The Clippers are led by 8-player division player of the year candidate Haylen Buell at quarterback, who is also an all-state wrestler on the Climax-Scotts/Martin co-op wrestling team.

If Climax-Scotts Wins: With a victory, Climax-Scotts advances to the state semifinals and will play the winner of Capac (8-2) at Kingston (9-1). Kingston, ranked No. 4, defeated Capac 42-0 in Week 2.
