The Chargers addressed the defensive side of the ball on Tuesday by signing defensive tackle Kyle Peko and safety Marcus Williams to the practice squad.
In correspondence, Los Angeles released wide receiver Luke Grimm and running back Nyheim Hines from the practice squad.
Peko most recently played five games with the Lions in the 2024 season. He originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2016 with the Broncos and has spent time on seven teams. Peko has accumulated 58 total tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble over 47 games in his professional career.
Williams was selected by the Saints in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft. After five successful years in New Orleans, he signed a five-year, $70 million contract with the Ravens in 2022 but was slowed by wrist and pectoral injuries over the next two seasons. Following a disappointing 2024 campaign, Baltimore released him.
Williams has compiled 469 tackles, 56 passes defended, and 20 interceptions over eight seasons.
