The Detroit Lions released practice squad cornerback Kendall Fuller on Monday.
The Lions added Fuller on Oct. 14 as their cornerback room dwindled, but never signed him to the active roster. The Miami Dolphins had released him last winter after signing him to a 2-year deal in Miami in 2024.
Fuller, 30, won a Super Bowl as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs defense in between two stints as a key component of the defense in Washington. He started 11 games in 2024 for the Dolphins before they let him go.
The Lions’ move on Monday may indicate a renewed level of confidence in the secondary following their Week 7 performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Terrion Arnold and Avonte Maddox are still out. Starting safeties Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch are also due to return this week to face the Minnesota Vikings.
The Vikings plan to have quarterback J.J. McCarthy back in the lineup on Sunday, and the Lions will need a repeat performance from their secondary to keep Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison in check.
