Woody Johnson has drastic Jets comments: Justin Fields ripped, Aaron Glenn backed

The New York Jets hope to earn their first win of the 2025 NFL season during Sunday’s Week 8 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Before the game gets anywhere close to kicking off, a lot of off-field action is going to go down at One Jets Drive thanks to owner Woody Johnson.

As Johnson arrived for  NFL’s annual fall owners meeting, he had plenty to say about quarterback Justin Fields.

Fields was essentially blamed for the problems the Jets have had this season, leading to their 0-7 start to the year.

“The defense is pretty good. If we can just complete a pass, it would look good,” Johnson said.

Ouch.

“(Fields) has the ability, but something just is not jiving,” Johnson added. “The offense is just not clicking.”

While reports indicate that Fields is going to be replaced by backup Tyrod Taylor in the starting lineup ahead of New York’s trip to face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8, Johnson specifically noted he will not be part of that final decision. Johnson said head coach Aaron Glenn will do so.

Speaking of the coach, Johnson did swing tons of support behind him as the positive comment about the defense suggests.

Johnson’s comments on his quarterback and coach can be found in the clip below:
