Cincinnati native Anne Campolongo is returning to the Queen City, joining Local 12 (WKRC-TV) as the station’s newest meteorologist.
The Ursuline Academy graduate and former Local 12 intern announced on social media that she’s leaving Des Moines, Iowa, for her hometown. She will join the team of Chief Meteorologist John Gumm alongside meteorologists Tera Blake, Eric DoBroka, and Paul Poteet.
“I’m back, Cincinnati!” Campolongo said in an Oct. 13 Facebook post, thanking viewers for supporting her and following along. “More to come this week about my first day on air.”
Campolongo joins Local 12 as the station’s evening weekday meteorologist and member of The Weather Authority team. She will appear on WKRC during the 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. newscasts, alongside anchors Adam Clements and Meghan Mongillo.
Her first day on air is unclear; however, Local 12 said she’d begin her on-air role in October.
“I’ve been away from Cincinnati for a long time, and when home calls, it’s hard not to answer,” Campolongo told Local 12. “I’m thrilled to join a team as well-respected and established as The Weather Authority team. I interned there back in 2013, and this is a full-circle moment for me. I can’t wait to hit the ground running in my hometown community that I know and love!”
