Florida State soccer shut out Miami 3-0 on Friday, Oct. 3, remaining perfect all-time at the Seminole Soccer Complex in the series against the Hurricanes.
The No. 6 Seminoles (7-0-2) scored three first-half goals, with Solai Washington, Jordynn Dudley and Nyanya Touray all finding the back of the net. FSU improves to 21-4 all-time against Miami, including a 12-0 record at home.
Dudley scored one and assisted another, and much of the Seminoles’ attack filtered through her when she was on the field. She had six shots, two on goal, and created a handful of scoring opportunities for FSU.
Washington opened the scoring in the 11th minute after Dudley picked the pocket of a defender, leaving Washington one-on-one with a defender, a battle she won before slotting home her second goal of the year.
FSU added a pair of goals in 42 seconds, starting with Touray’s first goal of the season in the 26th minute. She received the ball at the edge of the box, and she took a strike which deflected off a Miami defender and over the head of the Hurricanes’ keeper for the second goal.
Shortly after kickoff, the Seminoles again were pressuring the area, and a lobbed clearance from Miami found the foot of Dudley, who connected with a volley that found the bottom corner, her fourth goal of the year.
The Seminoles pressured Miami in the second half, but couldn’t convert opportunities into goals.
The Seminoles outshot the Hurricanes 22-3.
