Canton woman crossing the road dies after being hit by two vehicles, police say

CANTON ‒ A 45-year-old woman died Sept. 26 after being hit by two vehicles on Tuscarawas Street W near Arlington Avenue.

Erica N. Wynn was pronounced dead at 2:44 p.m. at Aultman Hospital, said Tamara “Tammy” Wilkes, a death investigator for the Stark County Coroner’s Office.

Police Chief John Gabbard said officers responded around 2:22 p.m. A silver 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee was going east on Tuscarawas when it hit Wynn, who was walking northbound across Tuscarawas. Wynn was thrown into the westbound lane where she then struck a silver 2018 Honda Civic, police said.

Wynn was taken to Aultman, where she died from her injuries. The motorists were not injured.

No citations had been issued as of Sept. 29.

An autopsy is being performed by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
