Winter Haven football makes exclamation point over Haines City; Polk County Week 6 roundup

Winter Haven High School football continued its impressive season thanks to a decisive win over Haines City by a score of 26-7.

With the win, Winter Haven has now dominated its competition in Polk County, only giving up one touchdown in two Polk contests. In the game against Lake Region, the Blue Devils won 35-0.

The next competition against a Polk County opponent will be against George Jenkins in a couple of weeks.

Winter Haven (4-1) will next take on Parrish (4-1) Oct. 3 at home.

Lake Wales 54, Lake Region 0

The Highlanders are off to a 5-1 start thanks to the shutout victory in this district matchup.

Among the scores for the Highlanders, Kamari Smith scored the game’s first touchdown then later scored to make it 16-0. Kaneilius Purdy’s touchdown made it 31-0. Backup quarterback Kamari Threatt scored to make it 45-0, and A’ssiah Williams’ touchdown capped off the scoring.

Kicker Isaac Rivera also hit a couple of field goals.

Santa Fe 55, Babcock 0

Santa Fe is now 4-2 on the year thanks to a dominant win at home.

Gabriel Rivera racked up two rushing touchdowns, while Reagan Korlacki rushed for two.

KJ White and Jonah Capre both registered a pick-6 in the game.

Benjamin 29 Victory 14

Victory fell short in a competitive game to a very good team at home.

Bruce Earby managed a 3-yard rushing score. 

Tucker Fox racked up a 55-yard receiving touchdown on a fake punt pass from Jared Reeves.

The defense held up well all night. It was a 21-14 deficit for Victory when the defense got a third down stop and forced a punt with about 6 minutes left in the game. However, the Victory punt returner muffed the punt and gave the ball back to Benjamin on the 5-yard line, setting up the game-sealing score for Benjamin from 5 yards out.

Ridge 31, George Jenkins 7

The Bolts got back in the win column Friday and are now 2-3.

On the Eagles’ side, Kobe Orr scored GJ’s lone touchdown on a 5-yard run. Elliot Ortiz had nine tackles and a forced fumble.

Tenoroc 62, Discovery 0

Tenoroc is now 2-3 after a win over winless Discovery.

Jaidon Furman scored four rushing touchdowns, while Keon Delu had two. Tayvon Norton managed one, Jordan Christian tallied one and Demetrius Jones executed two punt return touchdowns.

Bartow 35, Bloomingdale 29

Bartow climbed back to .500 after a tough win on the road.

The game came down to a game-winning stop.

Ladarrian Adams had two interceptions and a fumble recovery. Caleb Bell put up five sacks.

Offensively, Major McBath managed a touchdown reception for 80 yards. And McBath recorded three catches for 103 yards and a score.

Jones 37, Auburndale 3

Luke Slagel connected on a field goal late in the fourth quarter to prevent the shutout in the district matchup.

Sebring 40, Kathleen 20

Davenport 41, Lake Minneola 6

Chamberlain 16, Mulberry 0

McLaughlin 44, Palm Beach Christian Prep 0
