OHSAA football scores, Walsh Jesuit at Hoban high school recap, highlights

When it comes to Walsh Jesuit and Hoban in football, fantastic finishes are expected.

On Friday, Sept. 26, there was yet another one as the Knights mustered some late-game magic to beat the Warriors 19-14.

Last year in the regular season, it was Walsh winning by that score with a drive late in the game.

Fast forward to 2025 and Hoban went 77 yards on six plays and scored on a 3-yard touchdown by Brayton Feister to take the lead for good with 38 seconds left.

Feister (14 carries, 125 yards, 2 TDs) had a huge 18-yard run on second-and-1 from the Walsh 21 and went in a play later on the drive.

Jance Henry (20 carries, 82 yards) had a solid night as did Nick Kinsey )10-of-16, 142 yards) and Jackson Callaway (two catches, 58 yards) were solid.

Marty Tobin (14 carries, 87 yards, TD) was great for the Warriors (5-1) as were Milan Parris (five catches, 80 yards, TD). David Ternosky was 10-of-19 for 134 yards with an interception.

Jaiden Daniels had two interceptions for Hoban (5-1).

Jeremy Hammel’s 39-yard field goal cuts the Walsh Jesuit lead to 14-13. A bad snap on the drive took first-and-goal from the 6 to second-and-goal on the 24. There’s 5:06 left.

Brayton Feister had 22 yards on three carries on the drive.

Hoban recorded three first downs, but has to punt and Walsh gets the ball on its own 9-yard line with 58 seconds to go in the third quarter.

Third quarter comes to an end and Walsh has the ball on its 4-yard line. The Warriors lead 14-10.

The Knights drove 67 yards on 13 plys and ate up 5:56. Jeremy Hammel with a 27-yard field goal makes it 10-7 Hoban with 17 seconds left in the half. Hoban gets the ball to start the second half.

Walsh Jesuit answers Hoban touchdown

The Warrirors went 82 yards in 10 plays and scored on a 29-yard touchdown from David Ternosky to Milan Parris.

It’s 7-7 with 6:13 left in the second quarter.

Hoban strikes first against Walsh Jesuit

Brayton Feister capped off a eight-play, 87-yard drive that took 3:46 with a 1-yard run to score first for the Knights.

A 45-yard run by Feister put it on the 5-yard line after the junior ran over a Walsh defender 8 yards off the line of scrimmage.

It’s 7-0 Hoban with 10:04 left in the second quarter.

The No. 1 and No. 4 teams in the Greater Akron power rankings are set for their 57th meeting, with Walsh holding a 31-25 edge. … By the way, Walsh is also the No. 5 team in the state and Hoban is No. 6, according to the USA Today Network’s Ohio Super 25 poll. … The Warriors snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Knights with a 19-14 win at home last season. Hoban got revenge in the Division II, Region 5 final with a 21-7 victory. … It was the second consecutive season the Knights beat the Warriors in the elite eight. … Walsh is 25-3 in its last 28 games. All three losses came to Hoban. … In this week’s OHSAA computer ratings, Walsh is third in Division II, Region 5. Hoban is fourth.

Who to watch for Walsh Jesuit

Walsh might be the most complete team in Greater Akron. David Ternosky (54-of-72 passing, 714 yards, eight TDs) has stepped right in for Mr. Football finalist Keller Moten at quarterback. Milan Parris (24 catches, 463 yards, seven TDs) has been incredible at wide receiver. Marty Tobin (58 carries, 664 yards, seven TDs) and Carlos Smith (40 carries, 196 yards, TD) are gaining 8.8 yards per carry and the team is running for 217.0 yards per game. … Dario Jeras (38 tackles, four for loss, three sacks), Alex Dachille (35 tackles, five for loss and James Brewer (20 tackles, two for loss, four pass breakups, interception) lead a defense that has given up only 26 points. Bowling Green commit Caden Carter (28 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions is also a force.

Who to watch for Hoban

Brayton and Brydon Feister are having a heck of a season at linebacker for the Knights, but Elbert Hill (23 tackles, two for loss, five interceptions, 22 pass breakups) has shown why he’s the No. 6-ranked cornerback in the country and a USC commit. … Jance Henry (60 carries, 402 yards, six TDs) and Brayton Feister (34 carries, 215 yards, seven TDs) lead the rushing attack. Nick Kinsey (44-of-89 passing, 627 yards, seven TDs) has been good at quarterback for the Knights. He’s spreading the wealth with Jackson Callaway (10 catches, 188 yards, two TDs), John Johnson (four catches, 110 yards, TD), Payton Cook (11 catches, 104 yards, two TDs) and Grady Falkenstein (10 catches, 98 yards) all getting involved.
