Child critically injured, adult hurt in Columbus' Northeast Side shooting

A child suffered a critical injury in a morning shooting that also left an adult with injuries, Columbus police said.

Police received a report of a shooting at 6:45 a.m. Sept. 22 in the 1700 block of Blake Avenue, a Columbus dispatcher said.

Paramedics took the child to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in critical condition, the dispatcher said. The adult was transported to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in stable condition.

The dispatcher could provide no information about suspects or what lead up to the shooting.

A Columbus police dispatcher said the child remained in critical condition as of 10 a.m.. Police taped off a large scene including much of the 1700 block of Blake Avenue as well as a nearby alleyway.
