Ahkello Witherspoon injury update: Latest on Rams CB after Week 2 win

Ahkello Witherspoon exited Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans with a shoulder injury in the first half and was taken to the locker room. He was quickly ruled out, which was an indication that the injury was pretty severe.

Sean McVay shared an update on Witherspoon’s status after the Los Angeles Rams’ 33-19 win and the news wasn’t good. He told reporters that Witherspoon “broke his clavicle,” calling it unfortunate and “a big loss” for the Rams.

“I feel terrible for Ahkello,” McVay said. “Love him, such a bummer, but you do feel fortunate to have the depth where a guy like D-Will can step up to be able to supplement both Cobie and Forbes.”

Witherspoon has been a top cornerback for the Rams dating back to last season so this will be a significant blow to the defense. He was outstanding in Week 1 against the Houston Texans, allowing minimal yardage to Nico Collins in the opener.

The Rams do have good depth with Darious Williams, Cobie Durant and Emmanuel Forbes Jr., but their cornerback group will be tested moving forward without Witherspoon.

McVay didn’t share how long he’ll be out but it will presumably be for a while, given the fact that he broke a bone.
