Football Recap: Tecumseh comes up just short, Britton Deerfield rolls

YPSILANTI — A late run by the Tecumseh Indians came up just short Friday night as it was Ypsilanti Lincoln taking the nailbiter of a victory, winning 21-17.

Tecumseh got on the board in the first quarter as a Declan Comish field goal attempt was good from 37-yards out, giving the Indians a slim 3-0 lead.

Ypsilanti was not about to go away quietly, finally cracking the scoreboard after finishing off a massive 16 play, 80-yard drive with a 34-yard touchdown pass, Sam Bentley to Carson Greene. Carter Lamb hit on the extra point, giving Ypsilanti the 7-3 lead heading to the half.

Ypsilanti Lincoln looked to put the game away with two huge touchdown drives to start the second half as Tyrese French found the end zone twice, scoring from 1-yard out and from 66-yards out to make it 21-3 in favor of Ypsilanti after three quarters.

Tecumseh was not done just yet and it all began with a Chance Gormley 4-yard touchdown run to break the scoreless streak. The Indians went for two and hit on the conversion as Gormley pitched the ball to Braylon Zimmerman for two points, closing the score to 21-11 with 10:33 left in the game.

Tecumseh quickly regained possession of the ball and wasted little time finding the endzone again on a drive that used up less than three minutes of time. It was Gormley again finding the endzone, scoring on a 6-yard touchdown run, however the extra point was no good, bringing the score to 21-17.

Tecumseh could not get anything else going offensively, turning the ball over on downs twice while Ypsilanti was content to run out the clock for the victory.

Ypsilanti Lincoln out rushed Tecumseh 299-73 in the win while the Indians won the air attack 129-64, with Ypsilanti taking the overall total 363-202.
