It’s scary season at Cedar Point.
The park’s HalloWeekends festivities have arrived.

And for the first time since its merger with Six Flag, guests will have to pay more to enter its haunted houses and some mazes.
The rides and shows at the Sandusky amusement park are still free.
But the price for the haunted attraction passes − in addition to the regular park admission − varies by the day from as little as $10 on Thursday and Sunday nights to $20 on Fridays and $30 on Saturdays.
Guests can purchase a pass that includes an express admission for the now upcharged haunted attractions for $29 on Thursdays and Sundays to $34 on Fridays and $69 on Saturdays.
And don’t forget, Cedar Point is cash free and you must use a debit or credit card or Apple Pay or Google Pay for any purchases.
When is HalloWeekends at Cedar Point?
HalloWeekends historically is one of the busiest times of the year at Cedar Point − particularly on Friday and Saturdays with the traditional Columbus Day long weekend drawing epic crowds and long lines. Columbus Day falls on Oct. 13 this year.
There have been instances in the past where the backup to get out of the massive parking lot has stretched for hours on the Saturday of a Columbus Day weekend.
This year’s run is from Sept. 11 to Nov. 2 and whether the crowds are as large with the upcharge for haunts remains to be seen.
What is new at Cedar Point’s HalloWeekends?
Aside from the upcharge and a new sponsor in Snickers, there’s not much new at HalloWeekends.
And the one new haunt requires an additional fee aside from the new charge to visit the other haunts.
The park is getting its first haunt themed after a movie.
The Conjuring: Beyond Fear is billed as 20-minute experience where small groups of guests experience scenes from the popular series of scary movies.
Once inside, guests will have to navigate iconic scenes from the movie series and encounter characters including The Nun and The Crooked Man who work to lock Annabelle back in a secure box.
Admission to the new haunt that is located inside of the park’s former Town Hall Museum vary between $15 and $25 depending on the night.
The haunt is being offered at other Six Flags parks across the country.
The other haunted houses and mazes that will now require an additional ticket has not changed this season.
There are six haunts and mazes.
The line-up includes: Midnight, Cornstalkers 2.0, Haunting of Eerie Estates, Bloodbath, Fearground Freakshow and the Slaughter House.
What is free at HalloWeekends at Cedar Point?
The kid and family-friendly daytime activities along with the park’s collection of 67 rides and attractions are included with the park’s general park admission.
The park is decked out with Halloween and fall displays including the always interesting graveyard of former rides and attractions.
The various shows throughout the day and night from Snoopy to the edgy Fangs After Dark do not require an additional ticket.
And a couple fright zones, including the pirate-themed Cut Throat Cove and Blood on the Bayou, are still free.
