Gadsden County Sheriff Morris Young has confirmed that three “major arrests” have been made in connection with the shooting of Florida State football linebacker Ethan Pritchard.
Pritchard was shot in the head Sunday, Aug. 31, while taking his aunt to her home in Havana after a family gathering.
He remains in “critical but stable” condition at Tallahassee Memorial, where he had surgery following the shooting.
The three arrests were made Wednesday morning, Sept. 10. A press conference was scheduled for later in the day. Their charges and names were not immediately released.
FSU honored Pritchard in the 77-3 win over East Texas A&M last Saturday by wearing his number 35 on wristbands.
Additionally, his father Earl stood on the sidelines and broke the Seminoles’ ceremonial rock postgame. Safety Earl Little Jr. also wore Pritchard’s name on his nose tape and brought his jersey to the midfield coin toss before the game.
Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell fought back tears when talking about Pritchard not being able to play with the team in the win on Saturday.
“He absolutely loves it, and to know that right now that’s taken away from him, in a senseless act and something that … you don’t always know why. And you don’t always know why you have to go through things in life you don’t understand,” Norvell said.
“I do believe God has his hand over Ethan.”
