Travis Hunter assesses his Jaguars' debut in Week 1

We heard from Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach Liam Coen on what he saw from rookie Travis Hunter in his NFL debut, but what did Hunter think of his play on Sunday?

“I did my job,” Hunter said post-game. “That was the main focus–me doing my job. I did what they asked me to do, and I know I can do more and I know I can do better.”

As was expected, the bulk of Hunter’s playing time came on offense. He finished the game leading the team in receptions with six, totaling 33 yards. All of Hunter’s receptions came on short-area throws. Trevor Lawrence did target him downfield on one play.

Defensively, Hunter played six snaps and wasn’t targeted. He made one tackle as well.

“I just leave that up to the coaches,” Hunter said of his playing time. “I just go out there when they call my name, and when they call my name, I go out there and do my job.”

In addition to Hunter’s contributions on the field, he brings the energy off of it and is often the first player to celebrate his teammates after they make a play.

“It’s not hard,” Hunter said of his energy. “Just gotta go out there and be myself. I’ve been doing this for a long time. My job is to go out there and bring the energy and do my job.”

What Hunter’s workload moving forward looks like remains to be seen. As the Jaguars have said from the start, they’ll remain flexible with it.
