Myles Garrett sacks Joe Burrow twice for Browns in nightmarish Bengals' series

Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett sacked Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow twice during a nightmarish offensive series for Cincinnati in the fourth quarter of the NFL Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Huntington Bank Field.

The sacks of Burrow were the 10th and 11th for Garrett, his most of any NFL quarterback. He also drilled Burrow as he threw at the end of the previous series.

According to ESPN Research, the Browns held the Bengals to 7 total yards in the second half. It’s the fewest yards in the second half by a winning NFL team in 25 years.

Garrett, a six-time Pro Bowler, missed practice during the week with a hip injury, the team announced.

Garrett was not penalized for taking down Burrow out of bounds during their NFL Week 16 game at Paycor Stadium in December 2024.

Garrett entered Sunday’s game with at least one sack in 10 of the 12 career games he’s played against Cincinnati.

Garrett, a 2017 first-round pick of the Browns, is in his ninth NFL season, all with Cleveland. He entered the 2025 season with 102.5 career sacks, and had 14 in 2024.
