Running back Rachaad White is off the injury report for the Bucs, set for Week 1

The Buccaneers’ running back room is officially back at full strength as veteran Rachaad White has been removed from the injury report ahead of Tampa Bay’s Week 1 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. White had been working his way back from a groin strain suffered in the first preseason game, but returned to full participation in practice this week and is ready to go.

With Irving expected to handle the bulk of the carries, White gives offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard a dependable change-of-pace option who can contribute on third downs, in pass protection, and in the screen game. His experience and versatility could be especially valuable as the Bucs adjust to life without left tackle Tristan Wirfs, who remains sidelined with a knee injury.

“Rachaad brings a lot to the table even when he’s not the starter,” head coach Todd Bowles said this week. “He’s smart, he’s physical, and he understands what we need in key situations, especially when it comes to pass protection and third-down football.”

White’s return also gives Grizzard more flexibility in two-back sets, something the team has explored in camp to disguise formations better and exploit mismatches. With the offensive line in flux, having two backs who can block, catch, and run gives the Buccaneers an added layer of protection and play-calling variety.
