The Indiana high school boys soccer season is underway, and we’ve already seen some outstanding performances. This season, IndyStar will honor Central Indiana’s top athletes with our Player of the Week polls.

Here are the top performers from last week (Aug. 23-29).
Habib Bojang, Christel House
The Gambian transfer put on a passing clinic last week. Bojang set a school record with six assists in Christel’s 9-0 win over Morristown on Thursday. The senior midfielder also scored a goal against Morristown. On Tuesday, Bojang had a hat trick in a 5-0 Christel victory over Washington. Bojang has six goals and seven assists on the season. Christel is 4-2.
Nathan Afolayan, Covenant Christian
The senior striker scored two goals and had an assist in a 5-1 win over Bishop Chatard, the No. 6 team in Class 2A. Afolayan followed with a brace and two assists in Covenant Christian’s 8-0 win over Lutheran on Thursday.
Vikas Walling, Bishop Chatard
The senior midfielder had 11 shots on goal last week and scored against Covenant Christian (No. 1 in Class A) and Herron. He added two assists in Chatard’s 6-0 win over Herron. The Trojans defeated Heritage Christian 7-2 on Aug. 23.
Charlie Rawlins, Martinsville
Martinsville went 2-0 last week thanks to Rawlins. The senior forward scored two goals and had an assist in a 5-0 victory over Shelbyville on Tuesday. He scored two more in Martinsville’s 2-1 win against Plainfield on Thursday. A day later, Rawlins had 195 punt yards for the school’s football team.
Mikey Kubek, Carmel
The junior defender recorded two goals in Carmel’s 3-0 win over Greenfield-Central on Tuesday. In the Greyhounds’ 2-1 victory over Cathedral on Thursday, Kubek assisted the first goal. Thanks to Kubek, Carmel is ranked fourth in the updated Indiana Soccer Coaches Association Class 3A polls.
Tyler Delagrange, Brownsburg
The senior midfielder tallied a goal and an assist in Brownsburg’s 2-1 win over Hamilton Southeastern on Tuesday. Going into the matchup, Hamilton was ranked second in the ISCA Class 3A poll and Brownsburg, No. 10. In the updated poll, Brownsburg is fourth, and HSE dropped to the Bulldogs’ previous position. It was a massive week for coach Sean McGrath’s side, who drew 0-0 with class-best Harrison (West Lafayette). The Bulldogs are 4-0-1 this season.
Luke Jernigan, Herron
Herron went 0-2 last week and is 0-4 on the season, but the junior goalie has faced 62 shots on goal this year and has made 52 saves. Jernigan’s save total is in the top 60 in the nation.
