College football fans got the news they were waiting on. YouTube TV and Fox’s carriage dispute won’t cost Hawkeye fans the chance to watch Iowa football kick off its 2025 season after all.
YouTube TV and Fox reached a short-term extension while the two entities continue to work toward a new agreement.
It’s big news for Iowa fans as the Hawkeyes’ first four games of the season are set to air on Fox-owned entities. Iowa opens its season on Saturday, Aug. 30 against Albany at 5 p.m. CT on FS1.
Iowa’s next three games are on Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. on Fox at No. 21 Iowa State, on Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. against Massachusetts on the Big Ten Network and on Friday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at Rutgers on Fox.
If the two sides hadn’t reached an agreement, some fans would have missed Rutgers, Minnesota and Wisconsin kick off their respective seasons on Thursday night. Plus, Michigan State’s opener is airing on FS1 on Friday night and Auburn travels to Baylor that evening in a game that will air on Fox.
Fox is also set to host No. 1 Texas at No. 2 Ohio State this Saturday.
YouTube TV released the following statement on Wednesday afternoon:
“In order to provide you with the best in live sports and entertainment, YouTube TV enters into partnerships with content providers like Fox. Our priority is to reach a deal that’s fair for both sides and allows us to preserve the value of our service. We have reached a short-term extension with Fox to prevent disruption to YouTube TV subscribers as we continue to work on a new agreement.
“We are committed to advocating on behalf of our subscribers as we work toward a fair deal and will keep you updated on our progress. If their content becomes unavailable for an extended period of time, we’ll offer our subscribers a $10 credit,” YouTube TV’s statement read.
