Labor Day’s three-day weekend, usually filled with the beach and barbecues, might be replaced with two other words this year: showers and thunderstorms.
That’s the forecast everyday in Brevard from Aug. 29 through Sept. 1, Labor Day. Chances of rain vary between 60 to 80% for at least a portion of each day.
Although there aren’t any concerning systems brewing in the tropics as of now, wet weather is still in the forecast for the unofficial end of summer.
“Storm chances increase late this week and become widespread this weekend as a disturbance lingers over Florida,” according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.

High temperatures will be around 90 with lows around 75. Humidity will continue to be high, about 77%.
It’s likely best to do outdoor activities in the morning hours. Most days call for “showers and thunderstorms” between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The high this day is slightly lower, about 88, but the rain could be more widespread as the forecast calls for “high coverage of showers and storms.”
Boaters are especially encouraged to pay attention to the weather before venturing out.
“Those making outdoor plans during this timeframe should stay up to date, as we expect further adjustments,” according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne.
