A Chemung County woman is in custody after police claim she stabbed a man Friday, Aug. 22 in northeastern Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania State Police at Mansfield identified the suspect as Tara Jo Cusick, 52, of Pine City.
Around 9:15 p.m. Aug. 22, troopers responded to a residence on First Street in Jackson Township for a report of a stabbing, state police said.
Responding troopers identified both of the involved parties and contacted the criminal investigation unit. State police identified the victim as Jeffrey Todd Brown, 56, of Millerton, Pennsylvania.
Both Brown and Cusick were transported to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. Cusick was discharged from the hospital and transported to state police barracks in Mansfield for an interview.
Brown was kept at the hospital overnight for observation, but hospital officials say he was not admitted.
Tioga County District Attorney Sandra Olson approved filing of criminal charges against Cusick, including attempted criminal homicide and aggravated assault, both felonies, and misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering, simple assault, and possession of an instrument of a crime.
Cusick was arraigned on the charges by on-call District Magistrate Kari McCleaft and committed to the Tioga County Jail without bail to await further court action.
State police were assisted at the scene by Erway Ambulance.
