Treasure Coast High School football player airlifted to hospital after in-game injury

A Treasure Coast High School football player was airlifted to a nearby hospital after suffering an injury during the team’s regular season opener against Osceola on Aug. 22 at South County Regional Stadium in Port St. Lucie.

The play occurred with 10:37 left in the fourth quarter and the game did not resume after the injury according to Treasure Coast athletic director Jay Stewart.

“Both teams thought it was best to end the game,” Stewart said. “Both teams agreed that was the best thing to do.”

The player’s name and condition are unknown as of 10:30 p.m. Friday night.

The Titans were defeated by the Kowboys 35-0. Treasure Coast’s next game is Aug. 29 at Jensen Beach.

Video of the helicopter arriving at South County Regional Stadium began to circulate on social media Friday night with individuals offering prayers and condolences to the player and his family.
