Despite being a fifth-round pick, Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been one of the most prominent rookies from the 2025 class this offseason. He’s competing for the Browns’ starting role under center and while he’s not leading that race, it’s still wide open this season.
The Los Angeles Rams will visit the Browns on Saturday in the preseason finale and it sounds like Sanders will suit up after missing last week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He had been dealing with an oblique injury but on Thursday, head coach Kevin Stefanski said Sanders is expected to play.
He will be the third quarterback in the rotation, with Joe Flacco starting and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel as the No. 2 QB.
Sanders looked good in his first preseason game against the Panthers, throwing for 138 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. He completed 14 of 23 passes in the 30-10 win, finishing with a passer rating of 106.8.
He’ll get another crack at it on Saturday against a good Rams defense, albeit one that will exclusively be playing its backups.
