Fall is on the horizon, bringing colder temperatures and shorter days back to the Binghamton area.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac has predicted a cool, dry fall in New York, as the autumnal equinox will bring in below-average temperatures and rainfall.
Here’s what to know about the fall season in 2025.
When is the first day of fall?
The fall season begins on the autumnal equinox, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, which falls on Sep. 22 this year.
What is the autumnal equinox?
The autumnal equinox occurs when the sun “crosses the equator going from north to south,” the almanac says, causing the sun to rise later and nightfall arriving earlier.
How long will fall last?
Fall continues through the start of the winter solstice, which falls on Dec. 21 in 2025, lasting about 14 weeks.
