March First Brewing, Laveau restaurant and a retail shop for Cincinnati Distilling all permanently shuttered their Fountain Square locations July 23. All three are owned by the hospitality group March First Brands. An employee of the hospitality group told The Enquirer the reason for the closures was that the group’s landlord, Fifth Third Bank, had found new tenants for all three spots. The Enquirer has reached out to Fifth Third for comment but has not heard back.
Signs on the doors of both March First and Laveau read “Thank you Fountain Square! We’re grateful for your support and patronage & look forward to serving you at our other locations with top-notch service and experience.”
According to its website, March First Brands also owns a March First taproom in Sycamore Township, as well as Fig Leaf Brewing in Middletown and Cincinnati Distilling, which still has a retail location at Kenwood Towne Centre and a restaurant and retail spot in Milford. Another March First business, Woodburn Brewing, in East Walnut Hills, closed in April.
Founded in 2016, March First opened its Fountain Square location in 2023, replacing the former Rock Bottom Brewing, which closed in 2020.
