3 relatives dead in apparent murder-suicide on Detroit’s west side, police say

Three family members are dead in an apparent murder-suicide in the city’s west side, Detroit Police said.

The tragedy occurred after about 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at a home in the 20400 block of Pinehurst. Three male relatives were found fatally shot inside the home, Capt. Marcus Thirlkill said in a video distributed by the department that was taken on scene: a man in his mid-50s, a man in his late 40s, and the man in his late 20s, who investigators believe carried out the murder-suicide.

Thirlkill didn’t disclose how the three men are related and said police are still investigating a motive. Thirlkill said police had to break the news of the killings to some family members, who arrived on scene. They’re heartbroken, he said.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family,” Thirlkill said.
