So, Major League Baseball has suspended another player as it investigates gambling allegations.
The holier-than-thou attitude of the league about gambling is hard to take. It is impossible to watch any MLB game broadcast without being inundated with commercials from the league’s online gambling sponsors. A fan can even scan a QR code on his TV screen and place a bet between pitches.
Yet, MLB does its best imitation of the famous line of Captain Louis Renault in the classic movie “Casablanca”: “I am shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on here.“
Please, spare us your righteous indignation Commissioner Manfred. MLB has determined to sleep with the dogs and shouldn’t be surprised it now has fleas.
